Today I weighed in at 181.5 lbs, which means I’m down another 1.5 lbs from last week! And, as Babbalou pointed out in a comment on my last post, I’m very close to leaving the 180s for good. Do you think it’s possible for me to lose 2 lbs over the week of Thanksgiving? It would be fantastic to weigh in below 180 next Tuesday morning, but I guess we’ll just see what my body is up for this week. This gives me yet another reason not to backslide after Thanksgiving.
Yesterday I did two workouts (bicycle and elliptical), and today holds more of the same. It was a little windy on the bike this morning, but I made it to work just fine. Doubling up on these workouts has been empowering: I feel like I’ll go into the holiday weekend extra strong and feeling fit. And feelings of fitness often beget more fitness!
I joined a challenge on SparkPeople yesterday, and apparently one of the things that counts in this particular challenge is strength-training minutes. Do you know how many minutes I currently strength train per week? Zero. Uh oh . . . I’d better formulate a plan pretty quickly!
How’s everyone doing this week? I really enjoyed hearing your Thanksgiving plans—are you ready to put them into effect?

Hi Josie! Thanks for the encouragement :). In a way it’s still unbelievable to me that I really am doing this thing, you know? But I am!

Awesome Hilary! You’re really doing it, you should be so proud of yourself! I have successfully tracked my meals for two days now, whoo-hoo:) I’m starting to feel better so I think I will aim to do a couple of workouts this weekend. I am going to continue to track my food, it’s really motivating me, it’s funny, I always thought it would do the opposite. I tried Weight Watchers on a couple of different occasions and tracking my points did not work well for me at all. Tracking on Sparkpeople seems totally different for some reason…I joined the Biggest Loser Wild Winter Challenge on Spark, I’m excited to see what that has in store for me. Enjoy your Holiday!

Strength training may help accelerate your weight loss. I have better weight losses when I strength train than when I skip it. It doesn’t have to be big heavy weights either.
