This week’s weigh-in had to wait until this morning, since I was away visiting family for the past week. I treated Christmas Day as a “free day” (I didn’t count calories) but otherwise counted every single day, and stayed within my “budget.” This activity was considerably assisted by the new iPhone I received for Christmas—and the app that SparkPeople created for the iPhone! The new gadget and application made staying on track so much easier while out of town. I did manage to work out 2 of the 6 days I was away, and in the past week plus two days I lost 3 lbs. This is almost unbelievably awesome to me! I am down 31 lbs since I began this weight-loss effort at 203 lbs on September 15.
This also means I hit another of my mini-milestones (listed on my Progress/Rewards page) and will be ordering myself a piece of jewelry from Lucid New York, whose charm necklaces I have had my eye on for a while. The purchase will have to wait a day or so until my next paycheck is deposited, however . . . because let’s face it, the holidays can be tough on the wallet, and these mini-rewards have to be budgeted for just like anything else. In fact, I’m currently trying to work out a budget that will allow me to save up for the “new wardrobe spending spree” when I reach my goal weight.
Tomorrow marks the very beginning of a new calendar decade, and if you have made a resolution to lose weight, I wish you the very best. For those of us continuing on our weight loss journey, I wish for us so many things: perseverance, strength, creativity, support, self-kindness, and lots of nerve. To lose weight (and maintain that loss) in a world that constantly seems to conspire to foil your plans, can be a tremendous battle. It takes guts. So for all of us, whether just starting out, continuing on the road, or maintaining, my new year’s mantra for all of us is: Have guts. Take heart. You can do this.
