I’m Overweight!

Weigh-ins

Today I weighed in at 168 lbs. This is fantastic because:

  • I lost 2 lbs over the past week.
  • I hit my next milestone of 35 lbs lost.
  • I am now no longer obese!!

I am so happy to say goodbye to Obese and hello to Overweight (but not for long!). In September when I started this weight-loss plan in all its haphazard glory, I truly was afraid to hope very much for anything. But obviously a part of me did still hold on to hope and did still have faith in myself, because day after day, I’ve kept going.

Once I lose another four pounds, I will be halfway to my goal weight. That’s amazing! I’m so happy and proud of myself for sticking with this.

On a more practical note: Thank goodness I hit my next milestone and reward, which is a new work outfit. My current work pants are all droopy on me and sometimes it’s way easier to own my weight loss when I’m wearing clothes that actually fit. I’m thinking I’ll try Old Navy or New York & Co so that I can afford new pants and a new top. I probably won’t make it to the mall until this weekend, but I’ll definitely post a pic of me in my new outfit after my shopping trip.

A question: Do you know of a good blog being done by a considerably older, post menopausal women (like me)?

Congrats! I remember reaching that goal (even though I think my highest BMI was 31, but it just feels so much better than being obese).

I’m totally on your bandwagon, missy! I’ve been thinking about you a lot over the last couple days, especially the ones where I’m exercising in really miserable weather. Your success and progress is renewing my positive self-talk (and occassionally my ass-kicking self talk) and for that I thank you!

Congrats on the 2lb loss! You’ve lost a 5 year old! That’s amazing!

Quick question, this far into your weight loss, how do you feel these days?

Shanny: Thanks for being on my team! You know, I have revisited your old site a number of times during this current journey, especially at the beginning when it was really hard to hold onto hope . . . there’s so much inspiration for me there. If I can pay you back in any small way in the inspiration department, I would be thrilled. Way to go on getting out there and exercising in the less-than-pleasant weather!

To answer your question: I am feeling a lot better than I did at 203 lbs. I used to get achy (mainly my back) just walking around for everyday stuff. I also used to get horrible gastric reflux almost every night. AND I used to snore! Now, all 3 of those things are really not big issues anymore. While there is still plenty of room for improvement in my fitness level, I am happy about the progress I have made so far.

As far as emotions go: as you know, my emotions can veer all over the place when it comes to weight loss issues and other topics close to my heart. Most days I feel pretty hopeful and confident. But I still have my bad nights/tough days from time to time—which the blog does a pretty good job of showing I think. You know how it goes….

So glad to have you reading!

It’s a funny thing because you don’t realize how bad you were feeling until you’re feeling not bad at all anymore, right?

That was me this summer, not really playing by any rules and I couldn’t figure out why everything was just not quite right. Then I tightened up the reins and payed attention and the little inconsistencies just went away.

It’s amazing how the body wants to feel good and how it tries to get your attention when it’s not.

Awesome job! You look great! It is fun to have rewards along the way. I have a lovely array of those interchangable beaded watches. One was for 40 pounds and the other for 50 pounds. It’s funny how you can remember exactly what they are for. :)
