Today’s weigh-in revealed a loss of 2.5 lbs this past week! I’m so relieved that the scale isn’t stuck for good, and I think that the two boot camp sessions I participated in (Saturday and last night) helped nudge the number down. My total weight-loss so far is 36.5 lbs.
Let me pause for a moment to do a little happy dance . . . (twitches around the room to some Dead or Alive).
Okay! So, boot camp last night? I swear that hour lasted three times longer than 60 minutes! As I was plodding up and down several flights of parking-garage stairs for the third time, my brain kept informing me, “I’m pretty sure it’s the middle of the night by now and you should be at home all snuggly with M and the Bean!” Still, I kept on keeping on and completed the workout.
The coach was kind enough to scale a few elements down to my fitness level (I did fewer push-ups, for example), but otherwise I just kept up the best I could. And for the first time in my life, someone actually called me “pretty athletic.”
Say what?!
Um, I was the pasty-looking kid who got a stomach ache thinking about gym class back in my youth. My hand-eye coordination and balance (or lack thereof) are somewhat dreadful. But I worked hard at boot camp last night, and although it challenged the hell out of me and definitely highlighted some of my weaknesses (arms and abs), it also reminded me that I am tougher than I think.

Hilary,
Congrats on the loss! I knew it had to happen sooner or later for you, you’ve been working so hard.
Yeah, I’m pretty pasty and awkward myself. I had to laugh when I read that. Even now I can’t process an exercise with more than two steps or sets of instructions. ha ha

Thanks, AFG! Yah, I think some of the boot camp stuff will take a little time for me to pick up—especially the warm-up/speed/agility stuff they do with a rope ladder on the ground. Ah well, we figure it out eventually, right? ;)

Yay, you! As for being pasty, it’s fashionable again to be cadaverously pale. And if anybody gives you sh*t about it, just laugh and tell them that you’ll still have this creamy porcelain complexion in 30 years when they look like badly-tanned leather. :-D

Hurray for the Victorian-complected! I swear I was born in the wrong era. Now, pass the SPF ;).

I am totally happy dancing with you! Awesome progress, and it sounds like the bootcamp is doing great things. Hope it doesn’t get too muddy and wet for ya today (but hey, playing in the mud was fun as a kid, maybe it is still now? …errr, yeah :D).

Quix is here! Now the happy dance party has really gotten started!
And yeah, it will be a rather damp boot camp tonight! Hopefully the coach giving rapid-fire orders will be a distraction from the weather.
